I play a Bach 1.5C mouthpiece for my piston trumpets. I also use a Stork Vacchiano 1C for my rotaries, I love the Stork mouthpiece but I have been hearing a lot of good things about the Breslmair line.

Any suggested setup for a 1.5C user? (What kind of rim, backbore and etc)

You'll find them very different to Bach's - most are #25 throats and backbores are bigger. They're also incredibly high quality and play really well, if they suit you.

The standard G rim should be appropriate size for you, though it's quite broad (personally the GT was the one I kept coming back to)... Cup really depends on what you're looking for, some of the bigger ones are huge, likewise for the backbores

Breslmair has two rims which should be copies of Bach 1,5C
The "H" ande the "112"
cup and bb should match the kind of music you play.

And the 14, one step removed (copy of the Schilke 14 which is a 1.5c copy)

The G rim is quite small. I measured mine at 16.27mm. It has very little bite.

I own their 112 rim (based on a 1 1/2c) and 3C rim (based on a Mount Vernon 3C). The 3C has more bite.

I have used all three rims at different stages usually with the G2 cup and a 2 backbore - which I find quite tight if I try it on piston valve trumpet. I think backbore choice will be down to how your trumpet is set up. Mine has interchangeable leadpipes.

To me the standard G rim feels as big as it is named. Breslmair mesured it with 16,72mm.
I played Breslmair rims with 16,10mm ID and the difference is huge.
The 112 is 16,645mm and the H is 16,869mm ID.
This width is mesured by 1,5mm depth from the highes point of the rim.
Here is a overlay of the 112(black) and the H(red)

I measure to the bite which is where a lot of mouthpieces are measured at.
I notice Breslmair measures it as 16.2 at the bite so my measurement is about right.

The only way to know, is to test.
I find too many players are reluctant to test what ever is on the market.

I can use myself as an example; Always played on Bach 1 1/4C and has explored just the areas around my common mouthpiece (testing 1C, 1 1/2C, etc. )

There has always been a desire from me to develop specific areas of my playing, and just because of curiosity (knowing that James Thompson played on the piece), I bought a GR that just open my horizons! Really and truly...!

My message is the following:
Be very conscious about what you want to achieved with your playing and make no compromises towards your goals.
- Test what ever you find interesting
- Copy the best and add your personality
- Practice your butt of, every single day!

The thing I like about the Breslmair mouthpieces is the flexibility they give you with their modular system (rim, cup and backbore), especially for the piccolo (piston) and rotaries. However I use a Stork 1 with a Breslmair 1C rim for my Bb and C Piston Bachs'.
