I recently launched a new patent pending product called the Gapper™. It is designed to take up the gap on the third valve slide.

I think it will be most beneficial for younger students or someone with smaller hands, but it should benefit any trumpet player.

Check out the website:
http://www.trumpetgapper.com/

I'd be very happy to answer any questions.

Seems that not all international buyers can buy this, or we were just not thought of.

And after all the nice things Australia has said about the Pres... oh...

But on a serious note, can international POSTAGE be added? (It would be cheap and easy. Using UPS etc. would multiply the costs...)

cheers

Andy

Andy,

Thanks for your interest in the Gapper™! I am indeed suspending international sales, but only temporarily. I am working out the kinks in the process (and making sure my first international order goes through!) Once I have things smoothed out, I will be sure to let you know.

Cheers!

Excellent invention! Long overdue in the trumpet world! Next: horn (for those with a ring, instead of a hook), euphonium/baritone, tuba...and do something for them poor trombone players that need help with them slides!

Kudos!

Terrific - this has long been needed. It sure beats the padding and tape that I have used for many years.
Will you be at ITG in San Antonio?
Will it work on horns with a first valve ring?

Some players are "resonance freaks." Have you considered, or are you working on, a metallic version, perhaps made of brass or other alloy?

I do have a booth for the Gapper™ at the ITG conference, so be sure to come by and say hello! As far as resonance goes, I have not found the current designs to have any kind of a negative impact on the horn. I am continuing to experiment with different materials and designs based on the suggestions, in particular the resonant properties of carbon fiber. I may have to do some redesign to make it work on larger rings like thumb rings, but I will continue to refine the Gapper™ going forward. I think it’s pretty perfect right now, but I am always looking for ways to improve. (PS - I’m not sure there’s any hope for our trombone friends. )

King Super 20's and other trumpets have a large ring on the 1st valve slide as well as the 3rd valve slide. I could have used this in school all those (mumble) years ago!

I had a couple of extra buck in my paypal account so I bought one each for my two main horns and I rather like them. For me, at least, I seem to be using the slide more often (at the appropriate times).

I had one for about 10 minutes. My colleague saw it and asked about it. I took it off to show her and it flipped out of my hand and it flew under the orchestra pit never to be seen again. They’re wily devils. I’ll probably reorder.

Please let me refine my comment: on the first valve.

I do not play trumpets that do not have adjustable 3rd valve rings to accommodate smaller players.

When my son first started band, I purchased an extra 1st valve slide for him: one without a saddle, so his smaller hands could grasp the valve block; and one with a saddle so as he grew in both stature and ability, he could change to the 1st valve slide with a saddle.

I do agree: to cope manufacturers arrogant enough to claim to be "one-size-fits-all," which I detest, this invention is a good thing.

finally arrived, has been a long trip to italy but at the end everything went well... it is a nice and useful little thing, as a self-taught musician i didn't use much the 3 slide for tuning.... well, now i have no excuses.
thanks

I bought 2 of these right before the sale started and was refunded the difference without even asking for it. Most definitely worth the cost and excellent customer service! I highly recommend this product for everyone.
