Dear Friends,

Peter Bond of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra has edited the first volume of Opera Excerpts for Trumpet, now available through Hickman Music Editions. All trumpet parts included in score form: CARMEN (Bizet), LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR (Donizetti), PAGLIACCI (Leoncavallo), CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA (Mascagni), LE NOZZE DI FIGARO (Mozart), LA BOHEME (Puccini), IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA (Rossini), LA TRAVIATA (Verdi), DIE WALKURE (Wagner).

Mr. Bond includes a full page of insights and performance tips for each opera. Very helpful for audition preparation! More volumes to follow.

This sounds awesome, though likely to be humbling...

Thank you David and Peter!

The surprising thing is that there are more opera orchestras in the United States than there are symphony orchestras, yet we don't know the opera repertoire very well. Pete's book(s) will help remedy this.

Somewhere, in another volume, there will need to be Milhaud’s ‘Les operas minutes’ (or whatever the exact french is...)

There is a wealth of amazingly interesting music in the opera world!

Cheers

Andy

There are some wicked parts in many operas. This will be a wonderful guide to the wonderful orchestra part in so many operas.
