Hi all!

I'm using the Schilke Faddis XL for lead playing and want to try something deeper with a similar rim for other kinds of music - without going custom.

Any ideas?

Marty

The Faddis rim is based on the Schilke 11. So, you could try a normal Schilke 11.

As far as I know theres 2 versions of the Faddis piece. An 11 rim on a 6a4 cup and an 11 rim on a 13a4 cup (iirc, could be wrong).

Yamaha 11 has a nice comfy flat rim but deep bowl cup.

May be worth going Warburton. I think I remember the Faddis piece not being far off a Warburton 6 feel. Try a 6S and SV, maybe an M and see how you go. The NY backbore is my go-to for trying new stuff cos it always works to some degree, if not extremely well.

Good luck!
Mike

Since you are already familiar with the Schilke 11 rim and whatever Schilke backbore is on that (and the Schilke shank size that sets up your receiver gap), why not just try out a few 11-sized rim Schilke mouthpieces? They are cheap and easy to find new or used.
