Provides me with nice perspective: I played the "bumper part" 30 years, interfoliated with long periods of the soprano part -and now I´m on 4:rth front row part..........The course is downhill.
However I play lead in two bigbands.....never too late......Or?
Seriously - Zaferis was right on the spot describing the meta level; often the repiano is kind of a promotional chair. Jack of all trades. However, in our band a former front row guy plays the repiano. At one point I asked him to step forward again but his answer was: I´m not willing to put down that kind of commitment and effort. Younger than me he still would have to practice more/smarter to compensate for the age thing.
Another thing: the repiano guy sits alongside with the soprano - a good place to learn how play in tune (or aggravate the poor soprano guy even more) _________________ Cornets: mp 143D3/ DW Ultra 1,5 C
