Had a chance to meet Flip Oakes while on a trip to the left coast. What a class act. He was kind enough to give me a CD of him playing with the Titan Hot Seven. It's a great CD all around, but Flip's solo on Emily is, for me, the highlight. I think I've played it about 20 times already and am not the least tired of hearing it.

It seems to me that Flip is mostly known on TH for his Wild Thing line of horns, but he really needs to be appreciated more for his playing.

Warm regards,
Grits

Yup, he's a player, designer, repair tech, and great friend who will give you the valve oil from his case. He is deeply passionate about his music, horns, customers, and family.

He's on a number of CDs but my stash is at home and I'm not...
