What kind of solos?
Jazz?
Brass band?
Solos with piano accompaniment? What genre?
There's lots out there, but without knowing what you're actually looking for, you'll get some wildly varied suggestions. |

| If you would like a more modern solo to play then I would recommend that you look at 'Song and Dance' by Phillip Sparke. There is a wonderful video on Youtube of Hans Gansch playing this piece. https://youtu.be/lOcgoVKGKgU |

What level of solo pieces are you interested in? There are many great solos for cornet by numerous well known composers. In addition there is a wealth of repertoire available on youtube. For starters try Gerard Schwarz Cornet Favorites. |

I suggest folk knock off the inane responses to new posters. It just creates more trash in the threads, personal attacks are against the UA, and every now and then one of these folk might actually be a new member interested in hanging around but instead is run off by the immediate knee-jerk reactions. It's getting old.

Plus, why would a 5PW sign up, post 4 posts and then just log off?
If the idea is to get rapid fire market access, you'd just post 5, surely?
Regardless - every thread lives on long after it disappears off the first page... Someone, somewhere, will Google something and find these threads - useful answers will remain useful, empty and hostile responses just leave a bad impression for no good reason. |

While I agree with Don that a couple responses you received were unfair, many responded asking for more information, and I responded with a link to online materials where some PDFs of some of the best solo literature for cornet can be referenced, downloaded and played. In the instance here, I felt like the next response was yours, to either answer the questions that were asked of you, to say thanks, I looked at those, or to add further clarity to a very open ended statement.
There are many of us on here willing and able to help, but the best way to get and maintain our help is to clarify when your request is unclear, and to continue responding in a thread where you made a request.
I am totally in agreement that folks should not assume that you are simply looking for a post count to gain access to the marketplace, and would ask you to give the rest of us who did response reasonably some level of reply so we can better assist you.

This could seem fairly obvious, but a simple google can give a lot of answers. Arban and Clarke are probably the biggest classic cornet. Sparke and other people who are more British style.. or actually British, are very popular today.
Just remember a solo cornet sound is not the same as BBB sound. It needs to have life and color as there is no large, homogeneous band with which to blend into. That or I haven't been hearing many great BBB players live  |

| Thanks for your forebearance! As a latecomer to Cornet it is easy to be VERY ignorant .Because the trumpets get most of the solo work in my band , i assumed , like the viola , that the cornet was a poor relation.So thanks again for the informative response. |

Specifically the 15 solos in the back of Clarke's Characteristic Studies.
They are very challenging. So I practice them at relative slow tempo.
For Cornet solo's, I do think that this Clarke book is one of the best values for the money.
