Talk about how times change, we just had a young lady join our community band that played 4 or 5 years with the Lions All State Band that competes successfully internationally and was also co principal in the Miss State Wind Ensemble. She hadn't played in a year, so I put her on second trumpet so she can get her chops back. I have a feeling she wont be there long.
Looking back, there were no female trumpet players in any of the school bands or college bands I played in, or even in the military bands I was in. But we have had some really good ones come through our community band. |
