I am looking for German Beer-Drinking-Oktoberfest-Gemütlichkeit-Polka type tunes written for a small brass group consisting of cornets, alto horn, trombone(s), baritone, euphonium, tuba.

Tunes like: Ein Prosit Der Gemutlichkeit, In munchen stadt ein hofbrauhaus, Ein Zwei Zufa ....

Any suggestions as to where to look?
Thanks for any hints.

Cheers
Harry

I just set up an account with JW Pepper. They have several good possibilities with, as you said, flexible instrumentation.

Thanks much for your reply.

We are NOT forming a German Band.

We are forming an AMERICAN BRASS group playing Germany beer drinking Oktoberfest type tunes.

By definition, a BRASS group has only BRASS instruments and no woodwinds

Now what is the possibility of you actually answering my question?

Either way, thanks much for your response.

Cheers, I mean, Prosit,
Harry

LOL!

Harry, are you looking for octavo sized music, or does it matter?

You can check with Patrick Wolf at EWOTON Musik (https://www.ewoton.de/de/der-verlag-historie) for music by Elmar Wolf, Michael Klosterman and Ernst Mosch .

Also check with Rundel (https://www.rundel.de/en) and Blasmusikshop (https://www.blasmusik-shop.de/)

It does not matter.

Those links do look promising.
Thanks much for posting them.

Try Alles Zur Stimmung. There are books for both brass and woodwinds, as well as percussion, but they work fine with brass only. hickey’s has them. I don’t know about J W Pepper.

Alles Zur Stimmung looks like the perfect source.
Here is an example:
Quote:
This is a German Band collection of favorite and familiar marches and waltzes. They are perfect for Octoberfest and German events.

Titles include:

Nr. 1 Das 'Humbta tatara', Marschfox

Nr.2 Ich kauf' mir lieber einen Tiroler Hut

Nr. 3 Du kannst nicht treu sein, Waltzerlied

Nr. 4 Kleine Winzerin vom Rhein, Walzer

Nr. 5 Ein biss' chen blau ..., Letkiss Fox

Nr. 6 Fahr mich in die Ferne ..., Walzerlied

Nr. 7 Tanze mit mir in den Mrgen, Mitternachtstango

Nr. 8 Jetzt trink' n ma noch a Flascherl Wein, Marsch

Nr. 9 Auf lustiger Fahrt, Potpourri

Nr. 10 Du alter Rauber, Walzerlied

Nr. 11 Wir Kommen alle in den Himmel, Walzerlied

Nr. 12 Wenn das Wasser im Rhein goldner Wein war, Walzerlied

Nr. 13 Der schoenste Platz, Walzerlied

Nr 14 Du darfst mich lieben fur drei tolle Tage, Walzer

Nr. 15 Es war im Zillertal, Marschlied

I recall most of these as my "childhood" tunes during our "Karnaval's" every fall.

Thanks so much for your post. It's greatly appreciated.

Cheers (Prost)

Harry

Ha-that's from Halters infamous Bierzelt Collection...i play this every Year at Fasnet (Mardi Gras...Karnival)

https://halter.de/

https://halter.de/en/other-music-publishers/alles-zur-stimmung

Couldn't believe this horrible stuff IS still in Print
They have great Stuff for You
If Your Band has enough Cornetts, 2 can play the Clarinett Parts.... Trumpet and Flugelhorn is the same most of the time -but i think You need min. 8 Players to do it.

By the way-we Germans don't drink beer all day

Sometimes we also drink WINE!

Re Alles Zur Stimmung:

We usually only have 6 players (2 trumpets, two clarinets, trombone and tuba), and it would probably sound better with more parts covered. Our audiences - farmers' markets, retirees, and beer drinkers - aren't sophisticated consumers of this style of music, if such a thing actually exists, but they seem to enjoy what we are doing nonetheless.

You can also borrow older collections from the Chatfield Music Libary, https://chatfieldband.lib.mn.us. They have out-of-print collections like the Hungry Five in Germany, the Hungry Five Ride Again, Polka Time, and the V-E Polka books. These are all along the same line, though the instrumentation varies somewhat. We've used some of this from time to time, and it has the benefit of being free once you join the library, but we like the Alles Zur Stimmung books better.

Just remember, as my mom always taught us and we found out the hard way:

Thanks much for you reply. I have used the Chatfield Music Library before. I will definitely check them out on this type of music.

When it comes to instrumentation, beggars can not be choosers. We will have to make do with the instruments we can get. Right now we have all of three players: Cornet, Trombone and Tuba

If you want to make them cry, give the clarinet parts to the trumpets.
