playing keyboard to accompany buzzing exercise has created the desire to really play music on it.
i had bookmarked a jazz keyboard instruction site and now can't find it.
suggestions? thanks. |

3rd and 7th (or 7th and third) in the left hand, melody on top in the right hand, use the right hand to fill out the chord. Omit root unless you really need to hear it. _________________ Jeff Helgesen

jeff
you remind me of maimonedes who summarized the bible into one sentence. in truth there was a short commentary of a second sentence.
now that is funny. thanks for the condensed version. |

WIT. "Brevity is the soul of wit." Shakespeare, of course. I'm unlikely to forget that line because my sister had a race horse she named "Soul of Wit." Clever, but unfortunately it didn't help the poor critter to arrive first at the finish line. |

i am deciding whether to take up horses or sailboats as my next endeavor.
it is plenty to own good brass equipment and a running vehicle. people on this forum are so tight their butts squeak when they walk. |

I knew the quote and source, was just trying to retread it since my original response wasn't particularly witty.

this thing has gotten out of any reasonable hand. i have rearranged the furniture in my small house and made room for a keyboard station and a new computer desk in what was previously a living room.
it started innocently enough pulling out a 61 key yamaha to play during buzzing exercise. then it all flooded back from piano lessons in my youth and playing keys became a compulsion. playing jazz makes the difference. it gives things life and vibrancy.
well. i have an 88 key yama picked out, good organ sounds as well as a very believable 9 foot grand tone along with music suited for space aliens. then you need speakers which they call studio monitors and a sustain pedal along with a mic. it costs, but...
dizzy and the old timers admonished trumpet players to play a little piano and have the notes set out visually on the instrument and sheet music and then you would understand your subject.
beats womanizing or a cocaine habit. |
