|
|
Hello Trumpet World!
I ordered the new upcoming version of the torpedo coyote trumpet case many months ago and I'm still waiting. I know they had an issue with a damaged machine being delivered and a few other things that have caused delays.
I emailed them at the beginning of July to ask if there had been any progress, and received an immediate reply saying that they had finally received the undamaged machine and would have an update very soon. Needless to say, that was nearly 2 months ago.
Have any of you received any updates? _________________ Dave

I too have been on the waiting list for, well, more than a few months. On the Torpedo Bags Facebook page there is a post to the effect that they hope to be able to ship some Coyotes by the end of the year.
That may or may not happen. Steve can't predict the future (a lesson that life has drilled into him). But he thinks it will happen. He hopes it will happen. He will do everything he can to make it happen.
I know that it has been a long wait. Steve has offered refunds and of course, you could buy a Cronkhite bag from him - a nice bag in its own right. But I've decided that it is worth it to wait for the new Coyote. I haven't found anything else that compares to it.
Not only that, but I admire what Steve is doing. I don't just mean the craftsmanship (which is spectacular), but the fact that he is a guy who made a business starting from nothing.
I'm a retired Marine. It is fashionable for folks to tell veterans "thank you for your service." I usually respond that it's guys like Steve (and Trent Austin, and James New and Mark Curry and Flip Oakes, etc.) whom we need to thank. Entrepreneurs and small business owners are, in my humble opinion, the guys who make America run. I'm willing to be patient because Steve is one of the good guys. He is doing the best that he can, and when it finally gets to market, the Coyote will be another world class product.
Warm regards,

I've been waiting for mine since May of 2016, so I could share more than a few past updates with you, but in the name of giving them the benefit of the doubt, I'll just offer this:
I emailed them in July about seeing if my Torpedo Bag Classic could be repaired (it doesn't owe me anything - it's been heavily used, and is wearing), and the answer was that it wasn't going to work, but that the Velox (that I've been waiting for since July, 2016) was not going to be much longer. Of course, that was six weeks ago and I haven't heard anything since, so it's hard to say what to make of it "not being much longer". At a minimum, I would assume that they're going to honour the Velox orders first, then move on to the Coyotes, so I would assume it's probably a few months at the very least. |

Thanks for the replies. I'm certainly glad that he has a passion for excellence. I know it will be worth the wait.

While I won't deny being frustrated about the wait, I do respect their perseverance. |

Yes, a monthly update would be a nice offering in my opinion. Even if little progress has been made, it would let the costumers know that everything's still in motion, and they haven't been forgotten.
I'll hope for my coyote by Christmas _________________ Dave

The reason for my question in the other thread was to determine if the case was still in the works.
I suspect that Steve is a little embarrassed about the challenges causing schedule slip and is worried about updates getting hopes up, only to let people down when the next unexpected challenge occurs.
Edit: I don't know how many times in my profession where I have been stuck on a project where unexpected issues kept popping up and my customers, internal and external, were upset and demanding hard commitments, when those commitments were impossible to make. |

I've had the same feeling for a while (that they're hesitant to keep updating, since there have been so many deadlines missed), since they were fairly regular in the first 10-12 months of waiting, as I remember it.
Personally, even if there isn't much to report, I'd very much prefer that they update regularly (say, once a month or so). I understand that they're trying to make a new and high quality product, and that they've run into unforeseeable problems. I can live with that, but I think regular updates to let us know what we're waiting for would be good form. |

Agreed. This discussion is triggering flashbacks to sitting in my director's office explaining that I could not give a hard estimate until I knew what the cause of the issue was. And at that point the most likely answer would be it is resolved. |

Well Friends, It's been almost 2 months since the update on Torpedo's Kickstarter web site saying they had received the new CNC table.
Has anyone heard anything? _________________ Dave

Maybe this is too obvious, but have asked them?

Last time I checked Lindsey told me it wouldn’t be ready till December at least. Unfortunately I had to cancel my order, I won’t be buying a new one until it arrives at music stores so I’ll know for sure they’ll have it in stock. Fingers crossed it’ll be an amazing case. _________________ Nairam Simoes, D.M.A.

Based on the other Torpedoes Steve makes, I have no doubt the new Coyote will be great. But with the time frame being what it has been, I think it will be a LONG TIME before you will see them in dealer inventory.

I'm skeptical about even seeing them come to market! _________________ Bb: Yamaha 9335NY Gen3

The whole Velox/new Coyote thing is really unfortunate. I’m a huge Torpedo fan, and I think Steve more than anyone wants these cases available asap, hopefully the difficulties will be corrected soon.

I hope so too. If they don't Steve might not recoup the his investment and we might not have his products in the future.

I hate to say that I believe that’s possible, sure hope it doesn’t come to that.

Has anyone heard any updates on these cases or is this still the latest news, 9 months later? |
