I ordered a Humes & Berg bucket, received today. I ordered the five inch model and received a mute with a sticker which says 108A 5"

But when I measure the diameter with a ruler, I find it is exactly four inches across.

I assume I've got a mislabled mute, but it occurs to me that maybe the four-inch mute is made for 5-inch bells or something, so perhaps I've got the right one after all.

Can someone with a five-inch red-and-white bucket measure it for me?

Thanks,
Eric

The 5 inch model means the prongs will fit a 5 inch bell. The actual mute is smaller.

Thanks, I figured that was the case, though I don't know how much smaller. Is there anyone who can confirm that the 5" mute is in fact 4" in diameter? Woodwind and Brasswind, where I bought it, is willing to do an exchange if I think I got the wrong one.

I have the version for the 5" bell. The mute itself measures 3 15/16" in diameter at the red end.
