Three that âcountâ (ie, I use them for gigs):
Flip Oakes Wild Thing
LA Benge 3X+
â56 Olds Recording
I have a few âmiscellaneousâ as well, and a nice flugel, but these three are my primary players.

A few weeks ago I sold my Getzen Capri 590S so I was happy the family increased a little but guess who knocked at my door last week?
Another Getzen Capri but now a lacquered one with hexagon valve caps. 1978!
(together with an Antoine Courtois C trumpet mod. Roger Delmotte but that one was beaten up so that doesn't count or what?)
Horns bought this year:
Bach 180/43*
Getzen Capri 590
Getzen Eterna 900
Horns sold this year:
Getzen Capri 590s
Bach 180/43*
Getzen Eterna 900
Olds Super 1949 (I think)
Olds Super 1960 (I think) _________________ Technology alone is a poor substitute for experience. (Richard Sachs) |

Three at the moment:
1974 Getzen Severinsen
2004 Lawler Model T
1920 Vega
The last one was the horn my father played back in his school days. He played at the same high school I did under the same band director.
I had a few other horns that I gave to a friend of mine. He takes old horns and refurbishes them and gives them to middle school band directors so a student whose parents may not be able to afford a horn will have something to play. I let him have the cornet I played in school and college and after he got through working on it, it played so well I almost asked him if I could have it back. |

Hmm. So I've definitely developed a habit
I've been adding to my collection, and I have my eye on a few more horns. This is my updated (but still growing!) list.
3 trumpets
------------
Bach 180S37 (day-to-day) with KGU heavy caps
Jupiter 600ML (backup for gigs where there could be damage )
Amati Kraslice C trumpet - this has a surprisingly good sound for a cheap C trumpet, but it does still have a few of the usual intonation quirks. However, it's a low-cost horn perfect for me as an occasional doubler/dabbler.
Mouthpieces: Bach 1 1/4 C, 3C, 7C; Yamaha Bobby Shew Lead
2 cornets
----------
Jupiter 520 Bb
Kawai Eb soprano as stencil made in Germany by B&S. It's a really great horn that people have told me sounds as good as (or even better than) a Yamaha 2610.
Mouthpieces: Bach 7C, 17; DW 4B heavytop
3 (yes THREE!) flugelhorns
------------------------------
Jupiter 846RL - picked this up in as new condition for $400, and I really like the sound. It's a good day-to-day flugel that fits in well in most situations.
J Milliens - a French flugel from (I believe) the 60s with a dark Couesnon-like sound
Polmuz - a Polish flugel that's built like a tank (and probably made from bits of old shell casings!). When I bought it, the leadpipe was leaky so I swapped it out for a Yamaha one and the sound now is almost like a french horn - very rich and round.
Mouthpieces: Yamaha Eric Miyashiro; Blessing 3CFL; Bach 3C; and (for now) an unidentified mouthpiece that came with one of the flugels - I'm shopping for a decent french taper mp.
Still on my shopping list for this year
-----------------------------------------
Eb/D trumpet - I playtested an E3L at our local music store, so it's probably only a matter of time before I succumb
There's a nice Selmer C trumpet I've got my eye on that may soon be heading to Canada
Iâm also on the waiting list for the International Trumpet Workshop to go and make a baroque trumpet from scratch
Iâll probably end up getting a pocket trumpet, too, for when I travel. _________________ Play with the QORC and GGHG bands

... Who cares? Why not..?
in order, most played:
Olds Super 1968 - great horn!
Callet NY SLB in C
Conn 38b Constellation 1956-57 - unique timbre, dark, warm..
Conn 22b New York Symphony Special 1947 - great sound
Schilke Herald Bb/A piccolo
Olds Recording 1978 - easy horn
Conn 22b 1927 raw brass - easiest! Quickest response, "plays by itself"
Conn 22b 1924-25 gold plated - beautifully engraved
modified old Bach 180 37 (very open.. too much for now)
than:
my first trumpet, Yamaha 637 (or 634? will check..), for sentimental reason
my Taylor Chicago II Lite is played by a friend (since 4 years now..) that "maybe" one day will pay me.. great horn, by the way!
.. and flugel, cornets, trombone.. _________________ Umberto -

Honestly, I lost count, just put about 62 horns in storage , I have another 27-28 in the USA , about 25 or so in Asia and about 5 here at home now.
Should open a store, but never do I see anyone looking or asking about anything to do with Trumpets/ Cornets / Cornopean's, or fact of the matter,
anything concerning playing music other than downloading junk music on a iPhone.
Check out the look on the face of the wife/girlfriend in this video and see if that face looks familiar to you?
Youtube : "Trumpet trip: Adam Rapa"
The most I ever had out in the open was about 32 horns all laid out in a row.
Beautiful sight to come home to.
Working on securing a house to show and play them without going to the beach or parks. Thank Goodness for "silent'' mutes with headphones is what the neighbors say, though some claim they still can hear me.
https://www.horn-u-copia.net/ is my idea of porn, looking at horns and more horns online.
And "eau de" musty cases is a favorite too.
A triple AAA vacation would be sitting in someone's workshop.
And lets not ever start about MPC's shall we.
Ever try to move with 30 or more boxes of horns to a new apartment? Trying to take them in without the landlord seeing you? "Are THOSE trumpets! You're not gonna to PLAY them are YOU!!!

Most are in the signature below:

Hello Stevenplaysbrass,
I would like to ask you how do you like the Bach 37 soloist. I did not find any review on this instrument. Thanks.
