John's mpc is a great useful tool !
But Doc Severinsen said also something like "no pressure, no sound; no sound, no job"
we must be in the middle of the road ... |

Those mouthpieces sound hauntingly familiar...
But what is a 1XW rim? |

Wider than wide enough |

In teaching my Casual Double High Cmethod I teach a soft warmup with minimum pressure. No adjustment to the embouchure but adjustment to the aperture. The more you practice this way, the less pressure you have to rely on when playing. _________________ Bob Odneal

Apart from correct practice, teacher suggestions and lessons etc. i've always found that a flatted rim mouthpiece invites me to use more pressure than necessary. A rounded and "thin" rim mouthpiece helps me in playing with less pressure because if i press too much lips stop vibrating. With a flat rim if i press too much i have "stronger" vibration on the lips but that's killing the delicate playing muscles for the rest of the day or the week, especially if you're playing high notes. _________________ ------------------------
