Cubs fans would love Tinker to Evers to Chance. We could imply it with 6-4-3 but that would be lost on all but the most knowledgeable baseball fans, just like a lot of non-musicians ever got my iiVI license plate. One guy thought it was a Greek fraternity reference.

Flugelhorn, guitar and tuba makes more sense to me. Tuba can do both and carry a melody line. I won't tell you my name for the group because it's my idea. When we are famous, I'll tell everyone how amazing we are and that I didn't tell you the name. But I did give you the concept.

A lot of good suggestions. With a nod to Ernie Kovacs, I’m leaning toward The New Nairobi Trio.

I'm wondering if it's essential to say you're a trio in the name. Pick a general name--The Hatfield Hot Jazz Band (or whatever) -- and you can perform as a trio, quartet, seven-piece group, etc, matching players to the budget and setting. This allows you promote one name to various clients. Your group might get calls to play for a brunch, a house party, a wedding ceremony, a concert in a senior center, etc. In each instance you may want to add or subtract players. (You don't want to have different business cards for a trio and then for the bigger group.)

As your poll currently stands 61% prefer ‘other’ so why not “The Other Three”?
