Jack Peck. Tremendous player, range in the stratosphere. He was a studio musician in Muscle Shoals, and I played a few lesser gigs with him years ago. If I remember correctly, he played with the right hand and had both a pinky ring and thumb ring on the leadpipe.

I was under the same rock!
Burke in one of my all time favorite players. Very surprised to learn he had the use of only one arm.
I gave some lessons to a one-armed guy several years ago. Fine player.

This thread is not about you. |
I don't think writing a humorous reply (or at least attempting to write a humorous reply) in a topic thread implies I thought the thread was all about me. But you're in charge, so, my apologies...
On topic, I haven't worked with or taught any one-armed trumpet players, but having spent most of the mid to late 1980's directing circus bands with my left arm while playing, I don't think having one arm presents much if any limitation to a trumpet player (with the exception of mute changes and page turns).
Cheers,
John

Knock it off. Sniping at each other does not help.
Creating more posts to complain about five-post wonders just makes more work.
If you have a problem, PM the Moderators, don't trash up the threads further as it just makes more posts to clean up. _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |

Hi Don,
I was editing my post even as you were writing yours to include some actual on-topic content. And for the record, he sniped me first!
Cheers,

Jeanne Pocious Dormisond has a protégé with one arm -- Carlot Dorvé. I saw him play in a trumpet ensemble at the ITG in 2015.
