My first horn is also my current horn - Yamaha 4335G

Yeah, it's not an elite machine that's for sure, but it still has more to offer.

Conn Director with the Coprion bell. Didn't think much of it until my new trumpet teacher Frank Lisanti (Chicago ) picked up the horn and made it SING !

From the local wind band first horn was a Schenkelaars alto saxophone, followed by a Schenkelaars trumpet. That was in 1971
In 1982 I bought my own trumpet, a brand new Vincent Bach Stradivarius 180/37

I was 8 years old. My dad brought me a used trumpet he bought for $10 (not an insignificant amount since it was 1944). It was a Marceau--a fancy name but it was the Sears house brand at the time.

First trumpet was a Lyle trumpet. Bought it on craigslist and sold it on craigslist. Then bought a beat up Olds ambassdor. Both are long gone.

my first horn was a Getzen Deluxe Tone Balanced Trumpet that my brother bought for me when i was a freshmen in high school, sadly i sold it when i bought my Bach 37 in college, which i also sold a few years later after i quit playing. Wish i had both of them now. here's a vid of the getzen model i had.

Have a conn vintage one now and love it, but i'd probably sell it too, to get a Callichio 1s2, or something similar.

My grandfather's 1949 Buescher 400. Had it restored.

I credit learning on a fantastic pro-caliber horn with my early good results and success in school.

Yamaha 2320 in 1995. Still use it daily to demo in my Beginning Band classes.

Then came the ubiquitous Bach Strad 180-37ML (which wasn't a great horn until I replaced the leadpipe in college with a Charlie Melk MTV-525 leadpipe and MTV receiver).

Next up is a Teatro, which is a Frankenhorn sold by Bruce Lee and assembled by Eclipse. It has a Kanstul bell and leadpipe with a Getzen valve block. It's a nice, efficient horn.

My last acquisition was a Yamaha Bobby Shew flugel. Love it!

Also thrown in there for a little while was a Bach 25R C trumpet that was a great horn, but I sold it because I didn't do as much C playing as I thought I would.

So yeah, first trumpet....Yamaha 2320.

1st was a King Liberty from the late '30s. The one with the square brace.
First horn I bought myself was a '69 Benge 3+, from the local Benge distributor in Pittsburgh, Jerry Callet. Still have both and they both play great.

King Cleveland Superior cornet, 1967. Parents paid $170 for it.
First horn I bought myself was a Getzen Eterna Severinsen model in 1975; used the King cornet as a trade-in.

Once upon a time I bought myself a King Super 2 Symphony DB.
I did choose amongst many brands but was hooked on the feeling the King provided me with. Smooth, big sound yet with an edge if called upon.
Still play it. 48 years later. so it is getting old and so am I.

I haven't been able to find it in a while, but I started out on a Portland student trumpet. I think brand new it cost about $100.
I believe the color options were silver, blue, red, black, and yellow.

King 600 rental, replaced after 2 years by a nice Olds Ambassador for 4 years, then a Bach Strad for 30 years.

My family rented a Conn Director for a few months when I started, but it was much too expensive for us to afford to keep it, and I returned it. I got a Bundy student model in the black and white two-tone case that I played for the next two years. I must admit, I do not miss the Bundy...not one bit.

Now, the Getzen Capri I got as a seventh grader....I would LOVE to have it back.

1968 Olds (Fullerton) Ambassador. Kept this one as it was damaged in college, had it repaired back then, just had it restored this past summer (comeback player). Still easy to play and looks and sounds good.

A lightly used Yamaha 2335 student horn that I rented from the local music store, which I now work at, interestingly enough. It was a solid horn, but after I bought my used 1994 Bach Strad 180S43, I sold it to one of my freshman bandmates for super cheap because his old horn was just trashed. I miss it once in awhile as a beater, that horn was easy to play.
