When working with the PETE, how long do you hold the exercise?
1 Until you are out of energy?
2 Until the "burn" starts to hurt a lot (a little)?
3 Beginning of the "burn"
4 Or when?
Also how often.
I searched but could not find these specific answers.

Very briefly. Definitely not 1. or 2. Never to the point of pain. Never ever. At least that's the way I used it. I did no more than 10 seconds, and no more than 3 reps.
I found it useful for addressing a specific issue, I think it helped, and I don't use it any more. I have never recommended it to anyone. I think it would be really easy to overdo. _________________ '75 Bach Strad 180ML/37

I use it every other day, but never after a rehearsal day. Less is more.
3 reps for 20 seconds each. This is prior to the burn starting for me. Same for the pull and the squeeze.
I recommend using the Pete but only as tht extra supplement. It won’t replace anything.

I have used the P.E.T.E system and it is something that is specific to every player. Last time I used it for a week when I could not play and after I came back to my horn it was not a good situation for me. I had so much air in my sound. I went back to playing just long tones for a week and my sound came back. |
