I recently bought a 2nd gen 8335 that I really like except for one thing. The lowest few notes feel very stuffy to me and I have a hard time making them speak. I'm using the standard 16c4 mp mostly but have the same problem with a 22 throat.

Does anyone else notice this? Is the reverse tuning slide any better? I'd appreciate any comments.

Maybe you need some time to get accustomed to the new way of resistance?

Hello all.
You might check the mp gap. If it is over 1/8" that might be part of the feel.

Make sure the screws on the water keys are "finger tight." So tighten them until they are snug, but don't over-tighten.

Experiment with putting your tuning slide a little more in or out.

Check the gap, as was previously stated.

Run a snake through the pipes, including the bell, to make sure there is nothing blocking them. One time I found an old cleaning brush stuck inside a flugelhorn bell. The flugel played a lot better after I got it out...
