Aother student asks about a dark tone, I'm about ready to drive over and smack them.

Care for raw brass? Lacquer the freaking horn, you idiot!

It's so hard to play! Well then, play a clarinet and SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!

What horn is perfect? THE ONE THAT COMES OUT WHEN I SHOVE IT... somewhere.

My dog none of this is rocket surgery. If you're that stupid you can't play, find a motherloving teacher and learn something for once.

I know Mohan. I dont know how he writes these novels again and again. At least knows WTF he's talking about.

I'm having newbie fatigue, I guess. Find a freaking teacher and learn to freaking play.

Pardon me, I have a rock to crawl under.

Tom

Tom... I always enjoy your posts. Even this one made me smile.

It does seem we are regurgitating the same twelve topics over and over lately.

Perhaps some will have some entertaining holiday gig stories to share soon.

I certainly hope you're not a teacher.

I wonder how many are thinking:

"Find a freaking (English) teacher and learn to freaking write."

It has been this way for years. Many years ago I thought about starting a thread listing the repetitive topics and starting a pool about which one would show up next.

part of the problem is, most teachers simply cannot teach.

I think it's because trumpet playing is pretty much lots of fundamentals, over and over.

I did a sport once; boy was THAT the same thing over and over.

I'm learning a new language/alphabet these days, and that's pretty much just tons of repetition.

I dunno ... I was born in 1962 and it seems there was, at least for a while, a sentiment in that mechanical repetition was "unimaginative" and "killing creativity" but repetition works.

I was just thinking I want to better care for my raw brass Monette. If I lacquer the trumpet it will void the warranty. What should I do?

Agreed. That's why I stopped reading running magazines for the most part. Now I only search through them for shoe or gadget reviews (not unlike the posts I most gravitate to here!)

I think that's why God invented "other things to do than read the Internet". I'm not much of a believer so that's why I'm here

While there's humor in your post, hopefully you confine it to forum talk and don't actually engage students with a cantankerous "wtf don't you know this?!?" tone/attitude.

I suspect that this was just a little forum-only venting.

Flute cop's better.

"I'm going to make a loud noise that will hurt your ears and then I'll punch you in the nose!" - Flute Cop.

That is a seriously funny comic strip BTW.

Here's a topic I've never seen: my Monette is better than your Monette!

(You go first, I don't have a Monette)

Yeah, you think it is bad here? Trumpet Master is way worse.
I like that on TH the first answer to most trumpet problems is "ask your teacher. If you don't have one, get one."

That's something at least.

BTW, I want to buy a dark sounding Raw brass trumpet that is easy to care for and easy to play, which trumpet do you suggest?
