As a comeback player now retired from my day gig, I have the luxury of practicing a consistent amount of time daily. The key element is that my Wife doesn't seem to notice or mind and pretty much ignores my absence for extended periods of time.

This month's playing schedule is particularly intense with practices and performances taking a starring role almost everyday into early next month. The variety of the opportunities has been the amazing part, Lead with a Big Band performance this week after 4 practice sessions, Lead in Brass Ensemble with several practices and performances this month, 2nd in two Symphony Orchestras with multiple practices and performances this week and early next month and 3rd in Chamber Orchestra with multiple practices and performance over the next 3 weeks.

If the next chapter unfolds like usual, a relatively "dead" space happens over the next several months. How do you keep the music playing until the next rich period? How do you maintain your chops?
