Check out my Review and Demonstration video of an Andy Taylor Phat Puppy Compact Flugelhorn...the first of it's kind! A beautiful finish and well made by Andy Taylor. Watch the video to learn how to receive a special promo code that can be applied toward the purchase of a Phat Puppy horn. Thanks for watching!

There is one reason that I practice: to be ready at the downbeat when the final trumpet sounds.

So the Puppy is basically a neo-pocket flugel or a half-pocket flugel!

It would really be nice to hear you play one of your flugels back to back with the Puppy in order to hear how much different they may be (using the same mpc each time). Maybe there would be little difference, no? To my ear, listening with headphones on my Mac, I would not be able to call it anything other than a flugelhorn sound. Of course we know the mouthpiece selection has a lot to do with that. And the Michael Brand TurboFlow mouthpieces have some similar breathy qualities to the Whisper-Penny device (but still different) that we've discussed in another thread on TH this week. Cool to know about these sound options. I wonder if it might be a possible horn of choice for the Mahler Sym. #3 Post Horn Solo (mvt. 3). Maybe it would make it a little easier to get through the lengthy phrases and make the high B's (concert A's) more consistent. It seems that you were saying this. I think I now want an elliptical bell rim on all of my horns! Thanks for posting this, Bill!

Oh, and could you show all sides of the instrument slowly in your next video? The wrap seems to resemble a pocket trumpet/cornet, where the left thumb operates the 3rd slide, maybe? Really neat horn!

I just paused the video at 01:44, where you are holding the Puppy up next to the Taylor flugelhorn, showing their left sides, and that shows the wrap of the left side of the horn clearly. There are several places that we can pause that shows the right side, so including that in another video won't be necessary.
