I know I am a sinner, but am I also a bad trumpet player?
I play leaning all the way back in an easy chair. Angle between horn and torso is roughly ten degrees. Extreme occlusion of wind passage. Minimal diaphragm control. Eff it!
This is not for private consumption, either. Talking about playing with my usual early (?) jazz (?) ensemble in this guy's living room. Chap has a comfy chair, why let it go to waste.
Question: Can I get an amen from other terrible-posture-type players? Any love from the inefficient airstream community?
Not interested in improvement in this regard. Suggestions for improvement not welcome. I "identify" as a crappy posture player, and it's the world's job to accept it!
Any love out there?

The whole point of playing trumpet is to have fun. It is possible for a mediocre player to have as much fun as a skilled player? Sure it is. The degree of fun a player has is not necessarily dependent on proper fundamentals, great chops or creativity. Having fun is a personal thing. To the OP: You're going to do what you want to do, and I'm sure there are others like you. But I wonder if there are similar posts on violin, piano, and other forums ("I play piano with just two fingers and I don't care if it's wrong and limits my abilities - it's easier that way.").

There was an indie band touring Australia years ago, with the bassist interviewed on radio. All due to his 'special' bass.
After a long, painful monmosyllabic collection of responses, the case was opened to reveal the 'special' one string bass: a normal lekky bass with 3 strings missing...
The interviewer sounded somewhat perplexed... (maybe they googled bass?) and the eventual reasoning was - 'it's easier to play one finger on a 1 string bass'.

O yeah! Sitting in my most comfy chair, even recline function, used to read interesting stuff while grinding through more or less advanced lip flexibilities; aggravating most mpcaddicted chap in the band everytime I told him. Which I did just to aggravate him. During some 40 years.....
However finally my chops collapsed and my newly found teacher told me, in so many words: BREATHE!
So today I´ve put the magazines away, my posture is towards the military specs, I breathe freely and I´ve never played that well. But I miss the ol´times.

Agreed 100%, but we live in the age of cell phone “selfies”, blogs, Youtube and Facebook, there’s a lot of self involvement and ego gratification today.

I guess by commenting again I’m contributing to nonsense, but I don’t think the OP had much to do with whether correct posture makes any difference, it’s more about the attention he’s getting....and racking up five posts.

There is no requirement to play in the conventional way you can have any posture you wish, you could for example play while laying flat on your back or even while under water.
But dont expect me to say you are a good trumpeter if you cant even be arsed to stand up or sit properly and play with a remotely good posture.
