It is a screaming deal. If I didn't already have a Sonare 900, I would jump on this. Good horns that for whatever reason never caught on. Mine plays much like a good Bach. |

They never caught on because they're not a Bach but they're seen as "as good." When a brand has a stranglehold on an industry like Bach did for such a long time you'd be looked down on for playing anything else.
Now that Yamaha is IMO running laps around Bach and other brands like Jupiter, B&S, and others really stepping up their game more people are open to different brands. Sonare could try and comeback and they would probably be well received at a competitive price point. _________________ Bb: Yamaha 9335NY Gen3

I have had a couple of the the B&S Sonares and a Blessing Sonare, the 801, I think is the model.
The B&S made ones are good horns and a good value for what they go for these days. I was not impressed with the Blessing 801. I paid about $700 for it and doubt that I can get $500 out of it. It is not a bad horn but, compared to what Sonare was during the B&S days, it is a big step down.
That’s my opinion. |

Yamaha and their dominance in academia and D&Bs probably have as much or more responsibility for taking away the market segment from Sonare. |

From my point of view, it was the emphasis on manufacturing high end saxophones that undermined the existence of Sonare' trumpets and E.K. Blessing USA brass instruments. The former owner of V.Q. Powell Flutes was too ambitious to broaden his offerings. With the Buffet now owning V.Q. Powell Flutes, they're continuing the Sonare' line of flutes. _________________ James Becker
