I know you know your stuff but the 5 me. Is a 3-5 type rim. I would rather stay on the 5 side of it and away from the 3

Laskey 60MC, 60C, 60B. All are nice and easy for me to switch between depending on the sound I need to get. The MC is like a 3c-ish depth (slightly shallower). The 60C is a nice C depth. The 60B is like a 5B. Have a listen to the Brass Chat with Mr Laskey. He describes where his rim comes from.

Talk to Jim New. He could probably recommend one of his stock pieces. Maybe one of his S rims, possibly an S4, which comes close to the diameter of a 5C. If you give him an inkling of what you want, he'll make it happen.

A fantastic 5C is the Flip Oakes 5C-O. I believe it is the same rim as the Curry 5C, but it has a Bach style blank and a C cup with an open back-bore. The standard drill size is 27 and mine is opened to 26. The sound and overall play-ability is amazing!

Are Laskey mouthpieces made anymore? I can't find any new or used 60 rim Laskeys for sale.

If you like the 5C size/rim/depth but needs some sparkle/aid in the upper register another suggestion is to try a Curry 5C cup along with a Curry X10 babckbore. Mouthpiece express sells the Curry 2 pieces.

Have you tried a Bach 6C? Completely different, more comfortable rim.

You might consider taking a Stomvi Flex 5FVR J6 for a test drive.

https://stomvi-usa.com/product/5f-vr-flex-trumpet-mouthpiece/

These are quite exceptional mouth pieces that provide the player the platform that is quite versatile and as advertised simply easier to play. Be sure to check out the review of this mouthpiece on the product page.

Actually Fig , I do have a 6 c here in good shape. Forgot I had it.

I would like to try the Stomvi, but the price is totally out of my range, unless you hav a blank or used demo cheap.

Thanks

Maybe try a Blackburn 5C. More comfortable than the Bach (IMO) and just a bit heavier blank. Not as much as a mega, but noticeably heavier than a normal Bach mp.
I have both a 5B and 5C and they give me some good options depending on the playing situation.

I like Pickett’s stuff- the sizes correspond to Bach’s but the rim is less sharp.
I have a Laskey 60C 25 throat and 60B 26 throat if anybody’s interested.

Scott Laskey passed away earlier this year.
His wife and son are looking to see if anyone would be willing to purchase the Laskey name and products.
Here is the web page

Just another vote for a Denis Wick 4b--I think Joe mentioned it above. It gets listed in the 3c-7c range. I find it very comfortable and it's what led me to realize the 5c is a good fit for me also.

Mark, I want to correct a statement I said regarding the ID of the Bach 5C and the Stork 4C. I said the ID was 16.5 when in fact they are both listed as 16.25.
I know this doesn't change anything for you. I just wanted to correct an error I made.

The main issue with published inner diameters is how do the manufacturers measure it?
Bach specs are notoriously off. The published 5C diameter is not even close to many direct measurements by very reputable manufacturers. Check out this graph. http://everythingtrumpet.com/schilke/Bach-Schilke_mpc_chart.html Not even close are they? Others have very similar measurements as well. Another factor is where is the measurement from? The crown of the mouthpiece or other arbitrary place. How far down to they take the measurement? GR and Marcinkiewicz measure down from the crown of the rim .032. There are some that say this too is arbitrary and does not tell you what it feels like. Certainly, it cannot tell you how it feels but it is consistent within the particular sizes of their mouthpieces.
Rims make a huge difference in feel. Personally, I use a GR e65M. This size is roughly a 5C diameter but with a wider, more 3C like rim. The crown of this e rim is further to the outer edge, making it feel bigger, but the cup diameter is the same as the 65M which to me feels smaller in diameter. Its high point is closer to the cup itself. Personally, I find the Stork 4C rim to be wildly different from a Bach 5C rim.
The Stork is quite wide and rather round. The 5C rim feels very precise and narrow.
I believe the best method to determine sizes is to visit the manufacturers sites. GRs website shows how he does his measurements and a phone call to the actual manufacturers is a far better place to get straight info that any trumpet forum.
What works for some simply will be a disaster for others.

I found the differences between the Stork 4C and the Bach 5C just as you did.
