Any thoughts on a Reeves 41 m ? Is it close and a bit shallower or too shallow ?

In my limited experience, the Reeves 41 is much smaller. I'd try a 42 to approximate the size, though the bite and rim feel will be quite different. To my lips, the stock Reeves pieces feel rather flat and 3C-ish but noticeably wider. The 43 size is available as a 43N which counters the extra width, but I don't see that offered for the 42 size. I'm reasonably confident the Reeves M cup will be shallower than a stock Bach 5C. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

I would suggest trying the Giddings and Webster in their 5 size. I've been using a 5M for about a month now, and I've found it to be an improvement over what I was using.
I believe they offer a 14 day return policy.

Do you find there to be a significant difference between brass and steel (or titanium) mouthpieces? I'd love to try one. _________________ 1981 Bb Bach Stradivarius 37/25 ML raw - Laskey 60C

The Giddings has a faster response, and my articulations seem cleaner. The biggest improvement is endurance.
Not sure if that's because it's stainless steel, or just the mouthpiece design. I would say there was an adjustment period, as the rim is different that what I was using, which was a Stork 3D. _________________ Brent |

Interesting, I'll have to try one some day. At this point I'm not necessarily looking for something, I just want to try as much as I can for the sake of knowledge and experience. Mouthpieces are my topic of interest I guess. _________________ 1981 Bb Bach Stradivarius 37/25 ML raw - Laskey 60C

The Gifdings is that good. Wish I could find the 5 c alternative at a used price.
Which Mpc size is the equivalent ?

A 42C or a Purviance 8A (5*K4) would be closer. |

Mark...
I am selling Bob Reeves Purviance 5*K4 whick is alot like a Bach 5C with a slightly shallower cup, and a rounder inner alpha angle that makes the rim more comfortable.
Gold plated
PM me and I will send a photo of it next to a 5C
