Is it possible my original Benge case is causing my trumpet to tarnish? Just noticed this on the side of the bell where it comes in contact with the case. In just weeks after I polished it up. |

Certainly if it has something it in that has sulphur. For instance if your cat marked the case. Don’t ask me how I know about the cat, case and tarnish. |

Yikes, I might be inclined to see exactly how many of the nine lives that particular cat still has in reserve.😎
(Obviously, I’m not really a cat person.😉).

You could always get some (anti tarnish) silver cloth and merely drape it where the horn sits, or drape it around the horn while placing it in the case. |

OR https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=trumpet+tarnish+bag
You can also buy a bolt of anti-tarnish cloth (about $12) from Amazon. If you have a friend handy with a sewing machine you are good to go. |

I think the anti-tarnish cloth is called "Pacific Cloth."
Take care,

Do you leave the case open, or closed most of the time? _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |
