It's unfortunate that his fabulous playing wasn't given more attention in the states. Tremendous musician. A wonderful influence.

Peter was a good friend of Jerry Callet, played Callet horns for decades. He was one of the first to move to the Sima and played that model until he was no longer able. Peter had Jerry teach his son when he was in Europe. I spoke to Jerry today. He is regaining his strength and even giving some lessons again. Jerry always praised Peter's sound, especially his Mahler's 5th. This is much like losing Bud, a big loss.

A great player and role model. His orchestral and chamber playing was to die for. If you haven’t listened to him, do yourself a favour.

His Mahler 5 with Concertgebouw under Chailly is a gem. There is a fair bit of his music on YouTube.
