I had the pleasure of playing a Lawler C7 yesterday. It played in tune, spoke easily and you gotta love those Getzen valves. The tone was comparable to my Shires CLWF, definitely better suited for my small combo jazz gigs. Can anyone tell me if the C5 (?) model is better suited for section work?

Roy Lawler made great trumpets! I'm not familiar with the C5 model, so cannot comment on that. Regarding the C7, the ML (step)bore version worked fine for me as a section horn. The XL (step)bore was much more of a small ensemble horn.

I still have a Model T and think it works fine as a section horn. I'm having a square tuning slide made for it to further increase its versatility.

As far i now Roy never had a model with that name, mabe you mean TL5 .
If you want a all round horn the TL6 or the model T is the horns you need but all of them are rare to find .

Regards
