I am considering selling off my MF HORN III, an ST303 Firefird combination valve/slide trumpet for a fundraiser.

This horn is in good condition as is the case. I wouldn't necessarily call it "like new" but in excellent condition.

This is for a project fundraiser, and I want to price it a little higher, but I also want to price it FAIRLY. I have seen numbers as high as $8250 for one of these, but that seems a bit over the top.I actually want to MOVE this horn!

Thoughts, oh TH hive mind?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I recently placed a $4,500 bid for a Firebird on Reverb.com It was in decent shape but my offer was refused.

I thought that was a reasonable offer and IMO anything much higher is simply foolish for what is essentially a novelty item. Even Maynard barely used it in the studio or in concert.

Hi Nick,

I'd place it on eBay with a high Reserve price and I'd make it available worldwide. I did that with a 1947 French Besson Meha I had bought for just $400 and paid an additional $400 for a restoration, and then I later sold it on eBay and got nearly $3000 for it. Let the free market decide what it's worth.

Also be sure to place an ad in the Marketplace here with a link to the eBay auction.

Cheers,

John
