So. Does anyone KNOW who Mager studied trumpet with in Paris? I know who taught there at the time. Do wd have any anecdotal or better evidence of who studied with whom?
Thanks.

He studied there with Jean-Joseph Mellet from 1904 to 1906. His father studied at the Conservatory with Arban!

Heres a bit from Franquin's Wikipedia page:

Quote:
Georges Mager (1885–1950), who was principal trumpet of the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1919 until 1950, studied in the cornet class under Joseph Mellet, but seems to have been influenced as well by the teachings of Franquin; Mager may have studied with him informally and certainly worked with several of his successful students.
