What v-shaped cup cornet mouthpiece would you recommend for vintage cornets? I currently have a Denis Wick 2B and a Yamaha 13B4.

Thanks!

Looking at your list of the 2 Conn cornets you have you can’t beat the conn Levy or Conn Wonder or Conn Pechin or conn Libriati or conn model Cornet mouthpieces of that era when it comes to matching resistance and sound balance. But if you absolutely must have a V shape mouthpiece try the York and Son mouthpieces of that era. York made great V cups to match their very conical cornets between 1911-1919. Especially the 2 Courtorier models (new proportion and Wizard models). Not easy to find in great condition but if you do they are great.

You might consider a Curry vintage cornet piece. A familiar, modern rim with a v-cup and a nice vintage exterior shape.

+1 Plus, he can make it to fit odd ball receivers, like some of the old Olds and Conn cornets.

What vintage cornet? Before the effectively industry-wide adoption of the "Bach Standard" in the 1950's, each maker had its own shank taper and mouthpiece line matched to the horns.

For example, I used to take care of my uncle's King Silvertone cornet for decades until his granddaughter was born and showed an interest, and shipped it to her. The V-cup mouthpiece that fit this cornet with the proper shank for the receiver was the King MC.

Conn has different lengths, tapers and internal geometry of mouthpieces, depending on model and year of production.

Original York (Michigan, not to be confused with the more recent brand of cornets used in British-style brass bands) had its own taper.

And so it goes. Tell us your cornet make model and year so we can help recommend mouthpieces, if different from what you have in your signature.
