Has anyone been able to try the new Getzen Eterna models? They sure look beautiful.

The local store had one. I didn't try it. But it was striking looking. The store rep. had just got back from NAMM and was very impressed.

I'd love to try the copper one. Are you sending one to Milano Music in Mesa?

First time I have posted here in a long time. I still lurk around from time to time, but rarely have the time to fully follow any threads and post like I used to. Feels good to be back.

Anyway, yes Milano Music has received one of each model. I can't guarantee they are still in store. I know several dealers turned them as soon as they came in. It is worth a phone call though if you are interested in trying one.

Any chance of the new models being sent somewhere in central Indiana, or do I need to make a road trip?

I don't know about central Indiana. I know there are more going out all the time and more orders coming in, but I don't have an open order list in front of me right now.

I would say, if you really want to try one, contact your local music store and tell them. Even if they aren't currently a Getzen dealer. Unfortunately, as it is with all retail, some stores are reluctant to bring something in house if they don't see an immediate demand for it. The same goes for any stores on the above list. If theirs is already gone, and I know some are, let them know you want to try one and that they should get another one in house.

I was fortunate to try both the copper and yellow brass Deluxe Eternas at the OMEA conference this year. I'm always a fan of the Eterna design. The yellow brass was more my speed. Though I'm not a fan of copper bells playing-wise, they were beautifully build instruments.

Snag up those cases while you can. It is my understanding that there are a finite amount of them available. Getzen and Edwards have some very good things happening right now!

False. The cases will be paired with the horns going forward. The engraving for the anniversary will on be on this year's horns.

We like the cases so much, in fact, we are thinking about making one in a similar style for our Edwards line.

This is the best kind of being proven wrong! Glad to hear, Adam. I was really impressed with the whole setup at OMEA. I wasn't intending to spread misinformation about your new cases. My bad.

No problem. Brett did a great job getting that case made how we wanted it. The whole package something we're both very proud of.

Well now, to be fair, there are a finite number of the current case available.

When I was designing the case I was able to find a supply of vintage latches used on the original Super Deluxe cases from the 50’s. Enough to make 93 cases. In 9 months we haven’t been able to find any more, anywhere. That means very shortly, the latches are going to have to change. Everything else about the case will be the same however. So if you really want that case as it is currently, you’re going to have to buy a DLX sooner rather than later.

I briefly blew on a Getzen C trumpet at ITG last year, it was really exceptional, the best horn I touched at the show (for me). Wish I remember what model it was...

It was one of three. 3070, 3071, or 3072. If you really want to know, email Mary Rima. She should be able to look up what was sent to ITG last year. Her email is maryrima@getzen.com

This is what I was told. I was somewhere in between with my post I guess.

Speaking of latches, look at these:

https://www.steamlineluggage.com/collections/the-anthropologist/products/the-anthropologist-orange-carryon

They're made by http://yflock.com/ . I emailed them twice, had a Chinese speaker email them, no response. I'm trying to fix up a Lifton case for my Olds. I then emailed the luggage company, also no response.

Getzen family / reps,

Thank you so much for contributing to this thread. I do not know about these instruments until now. Any chance you could make a video so we can hear how they sound?

This is something we’ve been meaning to get into for a while as we do often get this request. I might have something more next week.

Jet jaguar, that is some beautiful luggage. Those latches are actually really close to what version two of the Deluxe case will have, but in brass. If you are look8ng for hardware, try www.ohiotravelbag.com. They have a lot of great stuff. That’s where I found the vintage latches we are currently using. Bought everyone they had.
