Jet jaguar, that is some beautiful luggage. Those latches are actually really close to what version two of the Deluxe case will have, but in brass. If you are look8ng for hardware, try www.ohiotravelbag.com. They have a lot of great stuff. That’s where I found the vintage latches we are currently using. Bought everyone they had.

Thanks for the info!

Just played the 900DLX today at the NAfME All-Northwest Conference. Bravo to Getzen!! Easily the best Bb there, and one heck of a trumpet! Very responsive, great intonation, and of course the fit, finish, and valves are awesome.

Brett/Adam,

Any chance you'll have both models available to try out in the Northeast?
Maybe Dillon's or Rayburn's?

Anyway, yes Milano Music has received one of each model. I can't guarantee they are still in store. I know several dealers turned them as soon as they came in. It is worth a phone call though if you are interested in trying one.

As a former dealer, I can tell you that that's between Schmitt and their Getzen rep. Ask the buyer at Schmitt? :Get all your buddies in the Twin Cities to ask and they may be motivated to stock them

I will refer to this thread this week when I discuss the issue of availability with my sales manager. We’ll do our best on our end to ensure that those of you that want to try them out have the ability to do so.

Maybe some “small brass tours” are in order.

Adam,

I am not sure about the ROI, but my wife and I attended a Bach small brass tour in Palo Alto. After looking at all the instruments and trying a few my wife surprised me by asking if I wanted to by one.

So it worked in my case.

I’ve done NAMM, ITG, NTC, etc. I much prefer the smaller shows with people that are there specifically to try your horns. Besides our horns themselves I think being accessible to your customers is something severely lacking nowadays.

Maybe we’ll do a three day three stop tour to test it out and go from there.

In New York state, I'd likely attend an event in Buffalo, Rochester, or Syracuse. And several of my adult amateur trumpet friends would join the 'road trip'.

That's doable. Only around a ten hour drive. (I don't fly anymore.) I'll start a bit closer to home though to see how it goes.

False. The cases will be paired with the horns going forward. The engraving for the anniversary will on be on this year's horns.

We like the cases so much, in fact, we are thinking about making one in a similar style for our Edwards line.

I have to tell you, the carbon fibre case for my Edwards has attracted attention wherever I take it. "Cool case!" they say, over and over.

I like the new deluxe cases. Vintage look. The Edwards carbon fiber cases are nice too. Brett’s office has at least seven prototype or new model cases in it. Fun stuff.

Let's be honest, my office is a mess. Right now from my desk I can see 14 case. Ten of those are either prototype samples, final production models, or something in between. And that does count the other 5 or 6 across the hall. I have a problem.

The Edwards carbon fiber cases (trumpet and tromobne) are beautiful. Unfortunately, they are expensive too. We are working on a more retail friendly case that will appeal more to our dealer network, but still be a unique and attractive case worthy of the horn inside.

In regards to instrument availability at dealers, we will do our best to get them out there and all over the country. Unfortunately, we can only do so much to encourage dealers to make the move. Like I said before, retailers in every industry are reluctant to put things on the shelf if they don't see the demand first hand. It is a hindrance to bringing new products to market. I still say your best bet is to contact your local dealer and tell them you want to see the horn in the store. Tell your friends to do the same. Whatever you can do to let them know there is demand in your area.

Honestly, this is part of a bigger problem in retail. The online/chain retailers are killing the local shops. Local shops try to compensate for that by pulling back on offerings and carrying less inventory. While this keeps costs down, it also pushes customers looking for something new or different to the web. A vicious cycle that is by no means unique to the trumpet world. Obviously, there are notable exceptions to this rule that offer a wide range of products at competitive prices with competent staff, but the fact is there are far less, locally owned retailers out there than there was even a decade ago. When those stores are gone, so are customers ability to try before they buy. We do what we can to encourage retailers and to support them, but we can only do so much. Help them see there is a demand and a market and support them when they respond.

OK, that's the end of my rant. Let me put this soapbox over by the case pile.

Brett

Points well made. I'm sure the internet stores have cut into the profit margins of the brick and mortar outlets, as the latter have cut their prices to match (or come very close to) those of the former.

To me, the greatest advantage the internet stores have is their financing, which appears to be nearly universally done through Synchrony Bank. If you need a new trumpet, and WWBW is offering essentially the same price as your local store; but WWBW's financing allows 36 months at zero percent, and the local store is running their financing through a high interest factoring operation, that is generally going to cause one to grit his teeth and buy through the internet store. That's a huge advantage for the internet retailers.

I wish there were some way that some of the brick and mortar stores could band together to offer financing arrangements (perhaps through Synchrony Bank) that were competitive with the internet retailers.

All that said, as much as I DO NOT NEED a new trumpet right now, I am greatly looking forward to playing one of the new Getzen Eternas. I've always been a fan of the Eterna, and have owned two (one presently, and one I hate that I got rid of), and these are intriguing, to say the least. I'm going to take Adam and Brett's advice and lobby my local dealer to get them in stock.

Take care,
Marc Speed

We have a nice big Long-Mcquade up here, but they don't list too many Getzen trumpets on the website: https://www.long-mcquade.com/search/6/1773/Getzen/ . The local store might be a different story tho. I know they have a new retro Schilke and retro Bach.

And as far as wives go, when we toured Kanstul as a family about a year ago, my wife was persuaded to let me buy at least a mouthpiece, after receiving a very thorough and informative tour from Jack.
