Hi all:
I know these are different models to be compared, but I just would like to know which would be your first choice to buy (or to receive as a gift) among these two "commemorative" editions, and why?
Thanks,
Xavi. |

This is a tough call.. I prefer the 37 bell, but both instruments are wonderful.. I wouldn't kick either one out of bed for eating crackers. _________________ Freelance Performer/Educator

I haven't played the 19043W2 Centennial model, but the 19037 and 19043 Anniversary models are both fantastic horns. They are on my short list of the best trumpets i have ever played. If i could only play one i would probably go with the 37, but it would be a tough choice. |

Just so you know, the centennial 43 is exactly the same as the 19043 model currently available for much cheaper, but the centennial model has gold trim and fancy engraving.
So really you are comparing the 19043 and the 19037. And aside from the bell shape, they are identical. _________________ Justin Dickson

Thank you very much!! So, which one sounds better to you, or which one would you pick? |

I have a 190-43 right now. Might sell it, not sure. The 37 sounds warmer. The 43 sounds more focused, sounds a little more like an orchestral C trumpet.
43 works better in my church playing with a pipe organ, when I need to shake the Presbyterians loose. 37 seems like more of an ensemble horn, blends better. The 43 is marketed as "brighter" but that is not what I hear... it is plenty dark. I hear focused, not bright.
They are both great. Different tools for different jobs. _________________ Justin Dickson

43, because I like many of the Bach 43's I've played.
The 37 bell is very popular, many people play it and sound good on it, but I don't care for how most of the 37's I've tried play or sound for me.
The real answer of which I would buy is the one that plays and sounds better. Have 2 horns, play them - the proof is in the pudding. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

I own the 19037. I love it! 43 bell wasn’t my thing, just didn’t feel like home. |

Also, I'll say that all these videos are nice, but really in the end, don't tell you what you need.
What you need is to know how the horn plays for you, and how the horn sounds for you when you are playing it (and also how it sounds in front, not just behind the bell). Unless you made the video yourself, none of these do this. All they tell you is how that guy in the video sounds on that horn. Will you sound like that person? Since you are not that person, it's unlikely.
In the end, we generally sound like ourselves. If you listen to Horntrader's videos, Steve generally sounds like some flavor variation of himself regardless if he's playing a Martin Committee or a Bach 43 or a Olds Super.
Also, and most importantly, the video doesn't tell you how a horn will feel to you when you're playing it.
YouTube and videos are fun, though. I spend way too much time watching them. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet
