Hi all,

On Januari 10 I was rushed to hospital with chestpains.
I had myocarditis and am still recovering from it.
How long should I wait before I play my horn again?
I tried last thursday and I felt it for three days on the left side of my chest.

That’s a question for a medical professional, not a musician.

Right. Specifically, ask your cardiologist.

Sorry to hear about this. Not playing for more than a month can be frustrating. I'm a physician, and agree with the advice already given. This is something your physician needs to answer.

Myocarditis is a general term that covers a number of diseases, all of which result in inflammation of the heart tissue. The most common cause of myocarditis is a viral infection, which is almost always temporary. But depending on the specific disease you have, it can be more serious. Some people require medication to compensate for cardiac dysfunction.

https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/000149.htm

But whatever the disease process, rest is almost always part of the treatment. Your specific question (how long should you rest) depends on what caused the myocarditis and how well you're responding to treatment.

Best of luck with this.

Mike

Ask your Doctor Definitely.
I had eye surgery recently, the Doctor said
no blowing for 10 days after.
Both eyes, second one 2 weeks after first, another 10 days.
I'm sure the heart would need more, and depends
on how you feel.
Good luck.
