I just listened to the Met broadcast of Honus Wagner's Das Rheingold on WFMT (while preparing my taxes). Trumpets were splendid. Contrabass trombone was unbelievable. I've never heard the rainbow bridge leitmotif (if it is indeed a separate leitmotif) played better. It's worth a listen if you can find it online. Bravo to all. |
