Hi all,

Can anyone help identify the trumpet and mouthpiece set up on this vid by Caleb Hudson please. Looks like a Bach Strad - perhaps gold plated? and not reverse?

Thanks,

Stu

Hey Stu -
Why not try and ask him yourself? The Canadian Brass is especially interested in educating and supporting the brass community. I’m sure Caleb would welcome the question via either of these publicly available avenues. You could also post a comment/question on that YouTube video that he (Caleb) posted.

Also you’d be assured of getting the correct answer and not a guess.
A word of warning equipment is very personal and sound is more playing technique and player specific than equipment generated. If I play another’s horn I will still sound like me and them sound like them.
Good luck .

The horn in that clip is a gold plated Bach. I'm pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong) Caleb Hudson and Chris Coletti are both Bach artists.

I think the poster is trying to ascertain model numbers and no sizes. I.e. 180-37 with a Bach MP 27 throat 3C cup etc... not just the make of the horn

If I'm not mistaken, when the Canadian Brass went to Bach I believe that they play the Artisan series instruments mostly. I did notice that Caleb tends to also play a Schilke P5 4 often as well. Hope this helps.

If you look closely, you'll notice that the ferrules on the first valve slide are pre prominent, and the 3rd valve slide stop is very long to facilitate playing below staff F, extending low range by 1/2 step.

I don't think the video shows an Artisan range horn. The 1st valve saddle is conventional - not the 'split' ring version shown in the VB promotional video
