This looks like a 250 or 200 ml glass. |

if memory serves, it could be a soda pop bottle [a small coke?], which once I saw used a very long time ago. _________________ Bach Stradivarius, 180S37 (Silver Model 37 Bb), ML75618, purchased new in 1972. |

Coke bottle (6 oz. size), neatly cut at the end of the first flare, probably corked like a harmon. |

Definitely a Coke bottle but I don't think it's cut or corked. He's just holding it with his left hand. You'll notice that he's opening and closing his hand around the outside of the bottle, not in the center like a harmon.

Since it hasn't been mentioned so far in this thread, the Cornetist is Scott Black, clearly a great player, but also a recognized Bix Bedierbecke expert - I wonder if that vintage glass bottle trick is something he picked up in researching that influential jazz pioneer.
Happy practicing - senza sordino, or otherwise...

On second look I think this might be a small Perrier bottle. |
