Hi all. Currently for my shows I play with GR northern brass 4-66 **** for something standard and with Warburton 4SV / H backbore for lead. I am a person who usually can not play well in nozzles with tall cups, but a few days ago in a rehearsal with a big band, a classmate left me his 4ES / NY backbore. Surprising to me I was very surprised. The mouthpiece was fantastic for me, I did not touch the wall, the high register was much easier and more precise, but with a lot of sound and harmonics. It was not the typical tight sound of a lead mouthpiece (I can not play anything in a schilke 14a4a or GR 4-6 ***) I know it has no common sense. Now my question is whether my embouchure bit by bit, with the passage of time is getting used to more superficial sizes or is it not as deep as I thought. I'm still confused and upset. So if 4ES works well, I should not have a problem with 4S right? I hope you can lend me your help. Thank you

If you already play a 4SV top for lead and liked the ES cup you could also try their ESV cup. A bit smaller than the SV but to me still feels great. I pair a 4ESV cup right now with a NY backbore and it is one of the best lead bright mouthpiece combos I have tried.

If you liked the way the ES felt and sounded then either try that or give the ESV a try since you are already used to the V cup style.

How long have you used the SV top? For me it took a good while to get used to a shallower cup for that type of playing.
