Here is a rare Cleveland Orchestra video from the early 1970's with Bernie Adelstein on 1st trumpet, David Zauder on 2nd. Man they sound great! Nice trumpet action at 2:43, 3:50, 14:09, 16:02 and at 6:29, even though the camera is not on them at that point.
Thanks for posting, John! It's definitely Bloch! Yes, and also at 7:10 with the unison trills in the brass and finishing out the phrase on the repeated B's in the staff...lots of bite in the articulation! Bernie knew what he was doing!

Thank you very much for posting this John! I do not believe I have ever seen Bernie play before. Looks like Jim Darling is playing assistant. Anyone know the third player?
Also, there might be more to this video concert right? John, you'd be the one to ask. Any other Cleveland/Bernie videos out there?

This is the only video of its type I have ever ever seen of Cleveland of the era before 1990. My guess is that the Cleveland Orchestra people keep a tight control over You Tube videos and take down anything that gets put up without their permission. This one has survived because it doesn't come up in searches for either Cleveland Orchestra or Lorin Maazel.
A clarinet colleague who is also a big Cleveland fan sent it to me, as it is significant in the clarinet world because David Shiffrin is playing 1st during the only year he played there.
BTW I love Maazel's haircut and tux coat! So early 70's.
