Yes, but the precise amount of gap varies depending on the 'hardware' combinations, and perhaps on the player.
A lot of 'adjust' and 'test' is needed to find the best amount - and even then some compromise might be needed to make the rest of the playing range acceptable.

KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |
