Hi, I've just acquired a B&S Challenger with no modell engraved. My "Challenger I" has the modell on the bell (3137), but the new only says Challenger. I don't know what modell is, one or two. The tubbing and the bell are like my "Chall. I", it seems to be heavier and the sound is a little darker (the I is lacquered and the new is silvererd). The new has a screw on 3rd slide and the "Chall. I" has a rod. Does anyone know what modell it could be? thank you.

Thank you for the reply. I think so, but the SG modelll with golden trim kit is only available on challenger I, and this one has rubber top cap insert, like modell one, instead of felt, like modell two. As a second hand instrument, the previous owner can have changed them, but I don't think so.

Hi

I could be wrong but I believe this is an old trumpet; pre challenger II days. Back then B&S only needed to refer to it as a ‘Challenger’ as there was only one model. My best guess therefore is that it is more similar to what we know as the Challenger I.

If it’s the same one, I saw this on eBay. I think you got a great deal here. I hope you like it - whatever it is!

Thank you Andrew, I think is a transitional modell, nearest of the Challenger one, except for the 3rd slide rod. Probably it's the same you saw on ebay, a good deal, in excellent condition (like new) and very good sound.
