16563 was made in 1965. I have a lettre from Courtois that says this.
Great instruments, those Courtois Delmotte models! One of my favorites. |

Thanks I edited the list I posted. There was a 1970 number on there which didn't seem to align well, it implied they went from 15000 to 30000 or so in just four years.
I have a Delmotte, it has a unique feel to it which I always assumed was due to how the tubing runs differently, but there could be other aspects as well. _________________ Thane Standard Large Bb / Monette Unity B6-7M mpc

I currently have the Bb version. The 213 Direct Air is a Large (.464) horn that can really sing. The workmanship is 2nd to none.
It's is a shame Courtois' decision to halt production of trumpets.

It wasn't their choice. They were a merger and acquisition victim, first doing OK as part of the Meinl/TA company JAMusik, but then when that company became Buffet-Crampon and acquired the massively scaled former cooperatives of B&S with VMI, they became a competitor (a superior one) to the division where all the money was to be made (VMI) and the top margin brand they produced, B&S. So the oldest name in brass instruments became just a stencil brand on trombones made at Markneukirchen. They still say Antoine Courtois Paris in the logo at the top of their "Our Story" page, even though at the bottom they admit production went to Markneukirchen in 2013 in combination with the other VMI brands. _________________ Ron Berndt
