Hi,

Here are '3 Concepts for high register development' by Trumpet Brain.

Over the last few months the overwhelming majority of messages have asked for a video on how to improve this element of our playing, and so I hope this upload can prove useful!

Please do leave any comments, opinions or observations you may have and I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible (although I'm not on this site all that often).

Thanks for you time!

veery, I think you're on to something here... I found myself just waiting for those eyebrows to move ever so slightly... now I'm thinking Alex might be some sort of alien life form that invaded England!!

Seriously Alex, you've been posting these videos with your great playing but it's nice to hear about your concepts and have your personality shine through... I LIKE IT!!

Now give us some friggin' eyebrow movement will ya please!!!

I quite agree with you, mrhappy!! Personality is a great value added in this video.
It's helpful to know that you are really just a mortal, Alex!

Very nice and done with a simple straight-forward approach. Your three concepts cut through a lot of the hype about playing in the upper register and do away with a lot of beating around the bush. I also really appreciate your acknowledgement that there is a lot of individuality to the process. Good work. Please keep it up.

This is particularly valuable in demonstrating the benefits of relaxation. If you're straining then either some part of your formula is not as efficient as it could be or you've reached a mechanical limit.

Dang! That takes some serious skill, I have to work myself on being relaxed in the upper register, it is super hard.

MrSarin,

Thanks very much for your comments.

For myself as an individual, I have to work at those concepts all the time, and have been focused on them for a matter of years.

We never reach the top of the mountain, but the longer we adopt an intelligent and dedicated approach the closer we can get.

I can say with absolute honesty that I work at these concepts every time I pick up the instrument and have never for one moment thought that I have reached their 'potential'.

We can but keep working towards our goals!

Thanks again
