I am good friends with Laco Deczi, he lives near me in CT and I've often gone over to his crib to hang out and sometimes listen to music and play trumpet together. I'll have to check out the Clifford trumpet he owns that he got from Bill K! |

I know that I am digging in graves but I was lookig for some info and found this "unresolved" topic and it could be good info.
Clifford Brown played Blessing Artis trumpet. His particular instrument (validated from the archives) is currently owned by Czech jazzman and trumpet player Laco Deczi. He emigrated to US during communist era here in Czech Republic and lives in NY currently. He has pretty good story how he get her.
You can find some info here (it is in czech but you can use google translator)

There was a NY Bach 17C1 and a 17C2, the 17C1 had a wide rim and slightly shallow bowl cup while the 17C2 had the same rim but a very shallow bowl cup. Supposedly, the Bach 10-3/4CW and 10-3/4EW are the same mouthpieces as the old 17C1 and 17C2, but the inconsistencies over the years have led me to doubt that. Anyway, that's what I've heard.

Yes. I think Bach labled it 17C at the time because he was aiming for something like the Rudy Muck 17C.

Many years ago, when Lloyd Fillio ran the Bach Plant; he told me Bach and Rudy Muck were best friends and both helped each other out many times. He said Rudy designed the Bach 17c1 and 17c2 himself while working in Bach's shop. And he said at that time, ca.1988, the tool they made the 10 3/4cw with had RW 17c1 still engraved on it!!
This was told to me by Lloyd Fillio himself. _________________ Dizzy Gillespie: "My band can out Love a Symphony Orchestra, and We only have 5 Cats! " |

Curious if anyone here has played, or plays, a 10 3/4CW.
Small mouthpiece, wide and flatter rim, medium shallow cup, slightly tighter back bore.
Clifford Brown had one of the most beautiful sounding tones ever. Go figure. _________________ Brent |
