I've run across a very old cornet, marked B&F on the valves. I was told this stood for BOHLUND FUCHS OF GRAZ, AUSTRIA . The horn is wraped and looks like a York Perfect-Tone horn. (from comparing to vintagecornets.com pictures)

Does anyone have any information on this manufacturer? Or where I might research the age of the cornet?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Rich

It should be Graslitz, not Graz, todays Kraslice in Czech Republic. Since it's said "Austria" it ought to be a pre WW1 instrument. I had a Bohland& Fuchs cornet once that I thought was made in the late 19th century. Nice instrument, but high pitch, so I had to adjust all valve slides with the help of O-rings to get it to play in A=440 Hz. As always, cornets of that age may sound and play really nice, but they are useless in modern section - another concept of sound - but they may be fun solo instruments and usually they are great when playing Arban.

If you look on the second valve casing, along with the sequential valve number there should also be an 11. These are taken as model numbers, though they may have referenced something else at Bohland & Fuchs. Here is a brief piece on the company and its stencil cornet line:
