Yesterday I ordered a Resonance Prana mouthpiece from Monette. Their confirmation email says 8-10 weeks to make it. The website says 6-8 weeks. Anyone have a good feel for their actual recent turnaround times for such a mouthpiece?

I placed an order on March 29, 2019. So, the turnaround for a cornet mouthpiece is currently over 24 weeks. _________________ Scooter Pirtle

There’s no hurry. It’s a common size and I’ll just sell it whenever I get it. I’m loving my Pickett mouthpiece! _________________ Scooter Pirtle

If you play on a common size you can get them off the shelf from dealers without having to wait. I play on a 1-5 so I have no choice but waiting - if I decide I need anything. A _________________ Bb - Scherzer 8218W, Schilke S22, Bach 43, Selmer 19A Balanced

The Monette Website hasn't been updated in quite some time, so I'd go with the estimation from the confirmation message you received, not some potentially outdated information you found online. There have been a number of recent developments at Monette which have led to some order backlogs, to say nothing of the fact that the Resonance designs take quite a bit more machine time (I think I recall Dave telling me that they're twice as time-intensive) than his earlier STC/LT, etc. mpcs. Add to that the Quality Control at Monette - which has always been superlative - and, most of us find that the wait times are, in the end, worth it.
That said, whenever I've had an actual emergency in the past - dropped mouthpiece and recording session the next week, etc. The folks at the shop have been remarkably accommodating. I do agree with the above posts regarding going to an authorized dealer for common sizes - a decent part of the backlog on custom orders is that Dave's crew is also working on getting orders of popular sizes out to shops in their network, so we might as well take advantage of that aspect of the supply chain.
Happy practicing,

My personal opinion is that their customer service is among the worst possible. Tried to get info from them a few times via email and the website. Never even got an answer. Not interested anymore, GR and Curry make better pieces anyway _________________ 2019 Martin Schmidt eXcellence

I found BJ really helpful, and when I queried on why it was late he mentioned they had been in the last year or so getting behind on production times.. he said they are trying to improve them but maybe still it is a work in progress. I always got an email reply from BJ, maybe it would take a week or two but I always got one. _________________ Thane Standard Large Bb / Monette Unity B6-7M mpc

So as I was deliberating on this, I decided to take a look at AR Resonance, and ended up in a fairly lengthy and delightful email convo with Tony Rapacciuolo. He has something that compares to what I'm looking for, which is his VLB with 42L backbore. Long story short, it's on a DHL plane as we speak.
Monette was gracious enough to cancel my order the day after I created it. _________________ 1938 Martin Handcraft Imperial #2 bore, 38 bell

If you haven't gotten it and you don't intend to keep it, why don't you just cancel the order? Even if they charge you a fee, it's gonna be less of a hit than you'll take in the second hand market.
Personally, I love my Monettes. You might like it more than the Pickett you're on now? _________________ Kevin |

Same here.
I've never bought anything directly from Monette and I've always gotten really positive communication from BJ. _________________ Kevin |

I love my ARs as much as my Monettes! They are a great compliment to each other! Unfortunately, I find reasons to keep them all. Long story short, sometimes the Monettes are too colorful and other times the ARs aren't edgy enough. Just my two cents. _________________ Kevin |
