The sound of a : Yamaha Chicago C (Clarity, richness, warmth and sparkle in perfect balance)
The feel of a : Austin Winds Stage 466 (works for me, but everyone is different)
The look of a : Taylor (any Taylor – most precise workmanship ever)
The power of a : 1950s Holton Stratodyne (with the French valves and light copper 1-pc bell)
The response of a: Selmer Radial (The last of the real French trumpets)
The history of a : HN White’s first experimental cornets (the genesis of the American long cornet concept)
The reverence of a: Keat keyed bugle (not the start of US brass making, but a start)
The aesthetics of a : 1920s Conn (the ultimate in hand engraving for retail, with 50s Martin a close second)
