Here is Dave Pollack with a King 7C on a Selmer Alto, or an alto (descant alto?) ophicleide in disguise.

If you skip to the first minute of the video, Dave does a passable alto-saxophone tutti with 3 voices all re-recorded on this (quite imperfect) setup. There is NO matching of the mouthpiece and the leadpipe, as the mouthpiece just loosely fits into the neck.

To note: Dave can articulate and play, in a rather wide range, and the result sounds quite musical. The tone "needs much work" but guess how would one sound with a mouthpiece that is not designed for, nor matches the instrument. One definitely needs the chops to pull something like this off.
